Scott is an experienced HVAC professional with a strong background in mechanical trades and building automation. He has a bachelor's degree in HVAC Engineering from Ferris State University and began working in the field at the age of 22, starting with residential installation and new construction. He later transitioned into controls with a mechanical design firm for 7 years before founding GBA in his garage. He currently works on estimating sales, project management, and service. He has experience with Tridium, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Distech, and American Automatics.
Mike has been working in the industry for the past 20 years. He has a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in science management, both from Walsh College. He currently oversees finance and accounting at GBA. He helps implement new job estimation software and works with Computer Ease.
Jesse has been working in the industry for 23 years. He has an Associates in Heating and Cooling, and a Bachelors in HVAC, both from Ferris State University. Before working at GBA he started out as a field tech for Honeywell, programming and commissioning HVAC equipment. He was then promoted to an installation manager who oversaw technicians and engineers for 5 years. After that he became an accounts manager, doing what he does now for GBA. He currently works on finding new business and talent, estimating and marketing, and maintaining existing client relationships. Some jobs he’s helped with are the Gordie Howe International Bridge, MSU retro commissioning, and Bay College temperature control upgrade. Products that he has worked with are Reliable, Honeywell EBI, XLS1000, XLS3000, XL5000, and Comfort Pointe Open, Tridium, Johnson Controls, Distech, Potter, Edwards, Notifier, and Phoenix Contact.
Stephanie has worked in the industry for the past 20+ years. Before starting at GBA she worked as an office manager, a dispatcher, and in customer service. Currently she helps in the office, working with documents, billing, and invoicing. She has also helped contribute to the Gordie Howe International Bridge. She has worked with Computer Ease, Teams, Office, Profit 21, and S2000.
Rob started working in HVAC in 1991. With his 35 years of experience, he currently helps solve problems, coordinates labor and oversees safety. He is HVAC certified from ICT-residential and installation. Some projects he has contributed to are Marygrove, and the Detroit Public Safety Headquarters. Rob works with Tridium Facility Explorer, Distech, and Carrier.
Todd has worked in the industry for the past 34 years. He has experience working as an engineer, control systems specialist, air/hydraulics test and balance technician, and senior estimator for Honeywell. He currently works on customer and owner interaction from the beginning of a project through warranty, into service. Todd takes pride in his work with the Amway projects.
Jeff has been in the industry for 35 years and has been a project engineer, fire alarm specialist, Access Control technician, and HVAC technician. He has NICET Level 2 Fire Alarm Technician Certification, City of Detroit Fire Alarm Technician License, State of Michigan Fire Alarm Technician License, and State Of Michigan Mechanical Contractor License Unlimited. He currently works on fire alarm systems and testing. Some projects that he’s proud of working on are the Gordie Howe International Bridge, Fitzer Research and Production, and UFM Hospital. He has worked with Potter, Notification, and EST.
Joe has been in the industry for the past 26 years. He is a certified Reliable Controls dealer, certified in Tridium AX, Honeywell XLS, XL5000, Maxpro, ProwWatch, Delta Controls, and Distech. He worked for Bluefield Engineering as a technical representative, working on service and sales for flow meters, stations, and BMS controls. After that he joined Honeywell as a field support specialist, servicing fire alarm, HVAC, security, and card access systems for 5 years. He was then promoted to department lead for 8 years. After that he joined GBA, working on project engineering and management, programing, and procurement. Joe also served in the US Navy as an aviation electronics technician. Some projects he’s contributed to are Ford Field, Denso, and Bay College. He has worked with software such as Reliable, Delta, Tridium, and Visio.
Christoph has 6 years of experience in controls/building automation, as well as 12 years' experience in installation. He is a certified Access Control technician, who found interest in the industry after starting his electrical apprenticeship. That led him into the world of low voltage/controls. He's worked for several low voltage companies in the past, which included nationwide projects with data and networking, audio video, CCTV, phone systems, and access control and security. He currently works on the installation of control systems and is an equipment and jobsite foreman/lead. He has had an impact on the Marygrove project. He has worked with Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Reliable, and Distech.
Garret has 15 years of experience in the industry. He worked as an electrician before joining GBA. He’s currently lead installer and assists with service. Some job sites that he’s proud of working on are the Michigan State University Data Center and the Godfrey Hotel. He has worked with third party controllers, Reliable, and unit controllers.
Patrick has been in the industry for the last 2 years. He previously worked with weatherization and utility conservation programs before working at GBA. He now installs building automation systems, often connecting a network of controllers, actuators, relays, sensors, and other devices together. He has worked with Reliable, Johnson Controls, and Distech.
Mike has worked in the industry for 3 years. He has an associate's degree in Energy Management and is Osha 30 and EPA6 608 certified. He used to work with building restoration and selective htg/clg (heat coils) as an installer. He currently works on installation He works with Reliable.
Jeff has been working in the industry for the past 3 years and has a degree in the study of movement. He spent 19 years in the National Guard in communications and as a CO, and 7 years running cable tv. He now works with installing, wiring controllers, building automation, and JCI programming. He’s proud of working as the lead installer for Amazon Yellow Jacket. Additionally, he takes pride in his family and church community. He has worked with Reliable and Johnson Controls.
Nick has 28 years' experience in the field with an electrical journeyman's license, and certification in Tridium AX and N4. He started his career as an electrician, working for a mechanical contractor where he installed and configured HVAC controls. Eventually he joined a temperature controls manufacturer where he had the opportunity to hone his skills on more complex systems. Nick has worked on successful projects in pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, data centers, stadiums, education, and more. Nick’s passion is working on advanced systems, ensuring operation while optimizing energy consumption. He enjoys the logistical challenges of successfully implementing mechanical/control systems. He has contributed to projects such as Amway, MSU Data Center, and Ford Field. He has worked with Reliable, Delta, Honeywell, Distech, Siemens, Alerton, and Tridium.
Chris has 21 years of experience in HVAC and BMS. He has a bachelor’s degree in applied science, majoring in Information Technology Security, and minoring in Cisco IT Networking. He is Tridium AX and N4 certified and has taken JCI CCT programming and Distech Controls classes. He has worked on the configuration of steam systems and chiller water plants, AUH’s, ERU’s, and terminal units. He also helps with the training of less experienced team members in all aspects of HVAC and their connection to Building Management Systems. He has worked with Tridium AX and N4, JCI CTT Controllers, Distech Controls, Phoenix Contact ILC 2050 BI JACE’s, and I/O Controllers.
Joe has 3 years of experience in the industry and started working with GBA in August of 2024. He has 2 years of residential and commercial electrical work. He is VESDA certified and has certifications as a level 2 Reliable Technician and Level 3 RC-Studio Operator. He currently works on point-to-point checkout, programming, graphics, and service installation. He has worked with Reliable Controls and Honeywell.
Jeremy has 15+ years in mechanical and building automation. He has an associate degree in Climate Control Technology and is Tridium N4 certified. He has a strong background in project management, including time at Lee Industrial Contracting, managing projects involving all trades. He has experience with Siemens, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Distech, Tridium, CRC (Critical Room Controls), Aircuity, Price, and Reliable Controls.
James has worked in the industry for 8 years. He is certified in Tridium Niagara, JCI, EasyIO, and Honeywell products. He has experience in installation, programming, commissioning, and project management. He currently works in programming, service calls, and installation. He prides himself in quality of work for finished products, and programmed Marygrove’s DOAS.
Alora has worked in the industry for 3 years. She started out with an internship at GBA in her senior year of high school and was hired full time once she graduated. She has a background in graphic design and has experience with different software programs such as AutoCAD Revit and Dreamweaver. She currently works on As-builts, drawing sets, 2D and 3D floor plans, and graphics work in Potter and RC Studio. She is most proud of contributing to the Gordie Howe International Bridge, Ford Field, and MSU data center, as well as creating GBA’s website. Alora has worked with Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD Revit and LT, RC Studio, RC Webview, Potter, Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop and PDF, and Kirta.
Rob has been in the industry for 1 year. He is certified in the Fire Alarm Fitness test for Detroit, MI. He was a chef for 20 years before changing career paths and also worked 3 years with stainless steel and welding. He currently helps with installation and troubleshooting issues. Some jobs he has worked on include the Gordie Howe International Bridge, Denso International, and Marygrove.
Bently is Scott Kapins dog who is often seen at the westland office.He is well loved and practily owns the office.
