Job Description: Fire and Security Installation Technician
This position is responsible for installing, troubleshooting and repairing fire alarm systems. This shall include panel repairs and reprogramming, device replacement and/or repair, troubleshooting of low voltage circuit troubles and system testing. Candidate must be self-motivated, be organized, possess good communication skills, have a willingness to learn new systems and technologies as well as providing outstanding customer service skills.
Job Duties:
- Programming of fire alarm, security and access control system panels with the primary focus being on networked fire alarm systems.
- Experience with access control, CCTV, IT and IP networks a plus.
- Completion and submission of all required documentation in a timely manner
- On call and after-hours work required on occasion
- Some travel between Detroit and Kalamazoo offices
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound and communications systems
- Must be able to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications
- Good working knowledge of computers
- Applicant must have a valid drivers license
- NICET II certification
Preferred:
- NICET IV certification
- Ability to provide fire alarm design including device placement, equipment selection, battery calculations
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Incumbent must show professionalism on every Job site through personal appearance and attire. The proper uniform is a logo’d Green Building Automation Shirt, along with long pants and proper closed toe shoes. Tattoos must not be visible and facial hair must be well groomed. Hard hats and steel toe shoes must be worn at all times on new or renovation construction sites. Profane language will be prohibited in all professional environments.
